Have you looked out the window lately? Even if you’re living in the lower half of the nation, chances are, you’re looking out on a cloudy, cold, barren winter scape. It’s enough to make you want to crawl back under the covers and curl up with a good book. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, as long as it’s not Fifty Shades of Grey, Grey and More Grey. But don’t let the winter doldrums sap your energy and put you into a funk that lasts until spring. With a few of the right touches here and there, you can energize your living space and bring some warmth inside until it comes back outside.
Lay a Foundation
When you’re choosing decor, it often makes sense to assemble items that are neutral in color and style but can be dressed up with a few colorful accessories. This is especially true for furniture. It’s no big deal to buy a handful of tablecloths for different occasions or to keep a few sets of curtains on hand to quickly change a space.
But it’s not exactly cost-effective to have a couch for every season, no matter what Martha Stewart might say. (OK, maybe she didn’t really say that. But it sounds like something she might say, right?! It’s a good thing.)
So here’s an idea—choose a sofa in a neutral color that will work for any time of year and any decor theme. Like this one you can find in Wohomen store:
All you’d have to do is dress it up with some colorful pillows. Choose jewel tones like ruby red and sapphire blue, or to really boost your energy level, place some vibrant green and yellow throw pillows all along with the couch. That oughta wake you up!
Finish it off with a soft, cozy throw across the back, and voila! Your sofa is now dressed up for the season, whatever it may be. If you really want to go all out, try a slipcover. It’s almost like having an entirely new couch! Only much more affordable.
Be Bold With Color
Maybe neutrals aren’t your thing. Maybe you’re thinking, “If I’m going to bring some color into my house, I’m going to go all the way. Forget playing it safe with beige!” Hey, we’re on board with that if you are!
Consider placing a colorful bench at the end of your bed. Not only can it be the perfect spot for putting on shoes, or laying out the next day’s clothes, it can be a splash of color that adds some pizzazz to your bedroom.

Coordinate or contrast it with your comforter, pillow shams, and maybe even an accent wall painted in a complementary color. The point is, your bedroom will be a place for both rest and recharging.
Clear the Clutter
Do you know what really saps your energy? Having to look at a mess. It’s true. Clutter causes anxiety overstimulates your brain, and causes frustration and stress. Leave the frustration and stress at the office, and make your home a haven by putting some of that clutter away.
Even adding just a small accent table with drawers where you can hide the electronics remotes can do wonders for your mood.
Take a look around. How many things are lying around with no real place where they belong? Find a spot for them, preferably out of sight, and you’ll leave behind the wintry attitude for a spring in your step in no time.
Energize your living space isn’t always about color and texture, but simplicity and comfort. Before you spend a ton of money on a vacation to get away from it all, spend just a little on a few boosts around the house. You’ll be amazed at the difference.
